Description :

A charming and rare French jewelry box dating from the late 19th-century, entirely covered on the exterior in rich royal blue velvet. The rectangular form is beautifully enhanced with finely patterned gold-colored passementerie braid, framing both the lid and the base. The gently padded panel on the top adds softness and elegance to the overall design.

The hinged lid opens to reveal a luxurious blue satin-lined interior. Both the underside of the lid and the base are deeply button-tufted, creating an attractive cushioned effect traditionally associated with refined jewelry and presentation boxes. A satin-covered central divider separates the interior into two practical compartments, providing space for jewelry, watches, keepsakes, letters, or other precious personal objects. The box retains its decorative key.

The velvet, satin, and gold-colored woven trim show fading, rubbing, small marks, and areas of wear consistent with age and use. These authentic signs of time contribute to its romantic, beautifully timeworn character. An elegant antique accessory for a dressing table, vanity, bedside table, or decorative interior display.
