Description :
A charming late 19th-century copper kettle, dating to circa 1880–1900, distinguished by its beautifully aged surface and traditional handcrafted construction. The generously rounded body is made of copper and fitted with a long curved pouring spout, a removable circular lid and a broad swing handle allowing the kettle to be easily carried.
The handle is secured to the body by substantial riveted brackets, while visible soldering around the spout and various joints bears witness to traditional metalworking techniques. The lid is surmounted by a small decorative finial, adding a refined detail to the otherwise wonderfully functional design.
Particularly appealing is the naturally developed patina of the copper, displaying warm shades ranging from golden copper to deeper reddish-brown tones, together with areas of verdigris oxidation around the joints. Small irregularities, surface marks and traces of historic use contribute to the authentic character of this antique piece.
Originally a utilitarian household object, this kettle has become a highly decorative example of late 19th-century copperware. It would make an attractive addition to a collection of antique kitchenware or display beautifully in a traditional or contemporary interior.
