Description
An elegant late 19th century French white porcelain tureen produced by Blanc, Marseille, Rue de Paradis.
During the second half of the 19th century, Rue de Paradis in Marseille was home to distinguished ceramic houses supplying refined tableware to bourgeois and aristocratic households throughout the South of France. This piece embodies that tradition of discreet luxury and quality craftsmanship.
The tureen rests on a gently flared pedestal base and features gracefully sculpted side handles with delicate molded detailing. The domed lid is crowned with a finely modeled fruit finial emerging from softly flowing leaves — a subtle decorative accent that enhances the otherwise restrained neoclassical silhouette.
The luminous white glaze is complemented by a beautifully executed blue letter “F” monogram framed by scrolling gilt foliage. The decoration is finely applied and remains crisp, offering a refined contrast against the smooth porcelain surface.
The underside bears the printed mark “Blanc – Marseille – Rue de Paradis,” confirming its Southern French origin.
A sophisticated and decorative serving piece, ideal for a curated dining room or as part of a monogrammed service.
