Description :
A charming French Napoleon III period circular tray, dating from the 19th century and crafted from painted tole. The tray features a particularly rich deep red ground, centered with a hand-painted bouquet of colorful flowers. Roses and other stylized blossoms in soft shades of pink, cream, white and vivid blue are surrounded by fresh green foliage, creating an elegant composition characteristic of decorative objects produced during the Napoleon III period.
Small gilt foliate motifs are delicately scattered around the central bouquet, while the raised circular border is finished with a gilt rim, beautifully framing the composition. The contrast between the intense red background, colorful floral decoration and touches of gold gives the piece a wonderfully decorative presence.
The painted surface has developed an attractive network of fine craquelure over time, particularly visible across the red ground. This natural aging, together with minor scratches, rubbing and small areas of paint loss, contributes to the authentic character and patina of this 19th-century piece.
Made from shaped sheet metal, then painted and decorated by hand, the tray could be displayed on a table, console or sideboard, or hung as a decorative wall piece.
