Description :
A charming late 19th-century porcelain vide-poche, circa 1890, distinguished by its wonderfully vibrant yellow ground and delicate hand-painted floral decoration.
The softly squared form is framed by two angular handles finished in a warm brown tone, echoed along the rim of the piece. The interior is particularly decorative, featuring a central floral bouquet with pink roses, small blue flowers and green foliage, set within a white cartouche outlined in burgundy. The surrounding yellow ground is embellished with an elegant trellis-like pattern of green leafy garlands punctuated by small burgundy flower heads.
The decoration continues around the exterior with further floral cartouches and scattered botanical motifs, making the piece attractive from every angle. Its compact proportions and unusual form make it particularly appealing as a decorative vide-poche for a console, dressing table or bedside table, while it is equally charming simply displayed as part of a porcelain collection.
The underside bears a small hand-painted blue mark, visible in the photographs. A colourful and highly decorative late 19th century piece with plenty of character.
