This elegant antique porcelain soup tureen was produced by the renowned French manufacturer Charles Pillivuyt, one of the most respected porcelain makers in Limoges during the late 19th century. The piece is crafted in fine white porcelain with a refined, luminous glaze typical of high-quality Limoges production.
The tureen displays a beautifully balanced classical form, resting on a circular foot and fitted with two gracefully shaped side handles accented with delicate hand-painted gilt lines. The domed lid is finished with a sculptural finial and decorated with subtle gilded detailing. Around the rim runs a refined frieze of finely painted gold ornamentation, adding elegance without overwhelming the purity of the form.
A striking feature of this piece is the hand-gilded monogram “R”, framed within an ornate scroll cartouche. Such monograms were often commissioned for aristocratic households, fine hotels, or distinguished private services, suggesting the tureen may have been part of a bespoke dining set.
