Description :

This striking Chinese blue and white porcelain jardinière, dating to the early 20th century, is richly decorated with a continuous scene of stylized carp swimming among aquatic plants. The carp, a powerful symbol in Chinese culture, represents perseverance, success, and abundance, adding both decorative and symbolic depth to the piece.

The cobalt blue decoration is beautifully executed, with varying intensities that create a sense of movement and vitality across the surface. The composition is lively yet harmonious, enhanced by finely detailed borders: a delicate floral frieze beneath the rim and a structured geometric band around the base, grounding the design with balance and elegance.

The form is generous and well-proportioned, with a gently flared rim and rounded body resting on a short foot, typical of export wares produced for the European market around 1900.

The interior shows light, age-appropriate wear, consistent with use as a planter or decorative vessel. The base is unmarked, as commonly found on Chinese export porcelain of this period.

A highly decorative and timeless piece, perfect as a planter or statement object, bringing a refined touch of Asian artistry into any interior.
