Description :

A refined French majolica jardinière from the late 19th century, dating to the Napoleon III period and inspired by the timeless elegance of the Louis XVI aesthetic. This beautifully balanced piece is distinguished by its deep cobalt blue glazed ground, contrasted with finely sculpted ivory-toned relief decoration.

The exterior is richly ornamented with neoclassical motifs, including ribbon bows, draped garlands, and floral friezes, all executed in high relief using the barbotine technique. The interplay between the luminous glaze and the sculptural detailing creates a striking visual depth, giving the piece a strong decorative presence from every angle.

The interior reveals a softly aged surface with natural craquelure, a testament to its authenticity and age. There is also two visible hairline cracks to the interior, stable and not affecting the overall structure or decorative appeal of the piece. This has been carefully considered in the pricing and presentation.

Versatile in use, it can serve as a jardinière, cache-pot, or decorative centerpiece, bringing a touch of French 19th-century elegance to both traditional and contemporary interiors.

A characterful and honest example of Belle Époque decorative ceramics, appreciated as much for its rich aesthetic as for the authenticity of its age.
