Description :

Beautiful French glazed earthenware vase, crafted in the traditional Moustiers style and dating from the 20th century, inspired by the decorative ceramics of 18th-century Provence.

This elegant vase features a generous baluster-shaped body, rounded shoulders, a cylindrical neck, and a circular ochre-yellow glazed foot. Its softly speckled ivory-white glaze provides a charming background for the delicate hand-painted polychrome decoration.

The vase is richly decorated with charming pastoral scenes, including two figures in traditional dress, a graceful bird surrounded by vegetation, a stylized tree, and numerous floral arrangements. Small butterflies and insects are scattered throughout the composition, adding movement and character.

The decoration combines olive green, warm ochre, golden yellow, and deep blue-black tones, reflecting the traditional palette of Provençal faience.

The underside bears a decorative mark featuring a bird surrounded by flowers, together with the inscription “Reproduction Vieux Moustiers – 18ème siècle”, indicating inspiration from 18th-century Moustiers ceramics rather than an original 18th-century date.

The vase is made of glazed earthenware, with hand-painted decoration beneath a transparent glaze.

The interior displays fine dark speckles naturally incorporated into the ceramic body and glaze during the firing process. These subtle characteristics are inherent to the traditional manufacturing technique and contribute to the authentic appearance of the piece.

A charming example of French decorative pottery, ideal as a standalone decorative object or as part of a collection of Provençal ceramics.
