This impressive large Chinese porcelain vase is richly decorated in the traditional Famille Rose style, featuring vibrant polychrome enamels set against an intricately patterned pink ground. The elegant baluster form, with its gently flared neck and generous proportions, gives the piece both presence and refinement.
Two large cartouches are reserved in white glaze and delicately painted with poetic bird-and-flower scenes. One depicts a pair of peacocks perched among blossoming peonies and magnolia branches — symbols of beauty, prosperity, and nobility in Chinese decorative tradition. The other features small birds resting on flowering branches above stylized foliage. The enamel decoration is finely executed, with layered brushwork and subtle tonal variations that bring depth and vitality to the composition.
The pink ground is densely filled with scrolling lotus motifs, framed by geometric and stylized borders in green and yellow tones at the neck and base. The underside bears a red seal mark reading “Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi,” used here as an honorific reference to the celebrated Qing dynasty reign.
