Description :

Elegant pair of 19th-century French Louis XV style bedside tables, crafted in walnut and richly decorated with geometric wood marquetry featuring beautiful eight-point compass rose motifs.

These charming antique nightstands display the refined craftsmanship and decorative elegance characteristic of French furniture from the 19th century. Their graceful cabriole legs, shaped aprons, raised gallery tops, and delicate brass drawer knobs reflect the influence of the Louis XV style.

The walnut structures are embellished with contrasting wood veneers in warm golden, reddish-brown, and darker tones. The decorative marquetry combines woods traditionally associated with tulipwood, kingwood, and satinwood, creating attractive variations in colour and grain.

The tops are particularly decorative, featuring an eight-point compass rose beautifully executed in geometric marquetry, surrounded by contrasting borders and fine stringing. The drawer fronts are adorned with diamond-pattern parquetry.

Although forming a harmonious pair, the two nightstands present several distinctive differences. One features a single drawer above an open storage compartment, while the other has three drawers. Their marquetry compositions also differ, with one displaying lighter, warmer wood tones and the other incorporating darker, more contrasting veneers.

These subtle variations, together with a slight difference in dimensions, give each piece its own individual character.

Both nightstands retain an attractive antique patina, with minor signs of wear consistent with their age and use.

A charming and decorative pair, ideal for use as bedside tables or elegant accent pieces in a bedroom or living room.
