Description :
A wonderful pair of vintage silver-plated wine or champagne coolers by the renowned Swiss silversmith and hotelware manufacturer H. Béard of Montreux, with exceptional provenance from the legendary Hôtel Belles Rives in Juan-les-Pins on the French Riviera.
Of beautifully restrained cylindrical form, each cooler features a substantial rolled rim and two elegant loop handles. Their clean lines and robust construction are characteristic of high-quality professional hotel silverware, designed to combine elegance with durability.
Both coolers bear the impressed maker’s markings to the underside, reading “BEARD B 88” with the letter “A” beneath.
Most importantly, the pair retains an old handwritten provenance label identifying them as wine buckets from the Hôtel Belles Rives in Juan-les-Pins. The celebrated hotel occupies the former Villa Saint-Louis, famously associated with F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald and the glamorous cultural life of the Côte d’Azur. The villa became the Hôtel Belles Rives in 1929, subsequently becoming one of the emblematic luxury hotels of the French Riviera.
The coolers display an attractive authentic patina, with scratches, rubbing and wear to the silver-plated surfaces and interiors consistent with age and genuine hotel use. These traces of service add greatly to their character and history.
A particularly evocative pair combining prestigious French Riviera provenance with the quality of Swiss H. Béard hotel silverware — ideal for wine or champagne, a sophisticated home bar, or as collectible historic hotel memorabilia.
