A charming French glazed ceramic creamer designed by Robert Picault and made in Vallauris, on the French Riviera, circa 1960. The piece displays the artist’s instantly recognizable geometric vocabulary and vibrant Mediterranean palette. Its rounded body is decorated with a bold cobalt-blue band featuring a continuous white Greek key motif, framed by rich green borders. Hand-painted ochre-yellow zigzags enliven the lower body and neck, creating a striking contrast against the warm cream-colored ground.
The creamer has a gently pinched pouring lip and a generously curved handle, both outlined with expressive green and blue brushwork. Its slightly irregular form and visible brushstrokes reflect the handcrafted character of Vallauris studio pottery. The underside bears Robert Picault’s painted “RP” monogram as well as an impressed Vallauris mark.
