This beautiful hand-painted decorative ceramic platter was created by renowned Vallauris ceramic artist Robert Picault and bears his characteristic “RP Vallauris” signature on the reverse. A wonderful example of French Mid-Century pottery, it perfectly reflects the vibrant colours, geometric patterns and handcrafted quality that made Picault’s work so highly regarded by collectors around the world.
The circular platter is decorated with a lively turquoise lattice design enclosing alternating cobalt blue cross motifs and warm ochre dots on a creamy white ground. Every brushstroke was applied by hand, giving the decoration its charming individuality and highlighting the artisanal nature of the piece. The harmonious colour palette evokes the light and warmth of the French Riviera, while the bold graphic composition remains unmistakably modern.
