Description :
Elegant and rare set of twelve footed goblets dating to circa 1960, crafted from silver-plated copper and displaying a striking warm gold-tone finish. Each piece bears a partially legible “SILVER ON COPPER” mark to the underside, indicating silver plating applied over a copper base.
The goblets feature an elegant neoclassical-inspired design, with widely flared cups above rounded bodies decorated with pronounced vertical gadrooning. Each is raised on a slender molded stem terminating in a broad circular foot embellished with radiating gadrooned ornament and concentric borders. The combination of highly polished surfaces and richly modeled details creates beautiful reflections and gives the complete set a particularly impressive presence when displayed together.
The overall design and construction are reminiscent of mid-20th-century American silverware produced by makers such as Sheridan Silver Co. and Birmingham Silver Company, both associated with silver-on-copper wares. The partially legible maker’s mark does not, however, allow a definitive attribution to either manufacturer.
The interiors retain a warm golden appearance that complements the polished exteriors beautifully. Minor variations in surface, patina and weight are present, consistent with vintage manufacture and use. One goblet is noticeably heavier than the others while remaining visually consistent with the set.
A highly decorative complete service of twelve, ideal for a sophisticated dining table, cocktail setting or vintage bar collection.
