Description :
Elegant vintage terrestrial globe bar dating from the second half of the 20th century, designed in the style of traditional Italian globe bars, particularly those produced by the renowned Italian manufacturer Zoffoli.
This decorative piece combines the charm of historical cartography with the practicality of a concealed drinks cabinet. The globe is beautifully decorated with reproductions of Renaissance-inspired geographical maps, featuring sailing ships, mythological sea creatures, historical place names, and richly detailed illustrations of continents and oceans.
The warm tones of ochre, golden brown, and green create an attractive antique appearance, enhanced by the varnished finish.
The upper hemisphere opens to reveal a magnificent celestial chart depicting zodiac signs, mythological figures, and constellations. Beneath the globe, a circular compartment is designed to accommodate bottles and glasses, making this an elegant and functional piece of furniture.
The globe itself is remarkably lightweight, most likely constructed from moulded composite material with printed and varnished cartographic decoration.
It is supported by an attractive turned wooden stand, probably stained beechwood, featuring four beautifully shaped columns, a circular frame, and a moulded cross-shaped base. Metal fittings secure the opening mechanism.
The overall design is reminiscent of the decorative globe bars produced by Zoffoli in Italy, although no manufacturer’s signature has been identified.
A charming and unusual vintage piece, ideal for a library, study, living room, or sophisticated entertaining space. Its historical inspiration and beautifully detailed decoration make it an attractive addition to both traditional and eclectic interiors.
