Description :
This charming French majolica cache pot by Saint-Clément beautifully captures the exuberance and craftsmanship of late 19th-century ceramic design. Dating from the Napoleon III period, the piece is richly adorned with a continuous frieze of softly modeled pink blossoms, each flower delicately hand-painted with warm yellow centers and subtle dotted detailing. The flowers stand out in gentle relief against a deep, glossy green ground, enhanced by naturalistic leaves that wrap fluidly around the body.
The form itself is elegant yet grounded, resting on small integrated feet that lift the piece slightly, adding both presence and refinement. The scalloped rim echoes the organic movement of the decoration, creating a harmonious overall composition. The interior is glazed in a soft, pale tone, showing light, honest signs of age and use consistent with its history.
Marked underneath “Saint-Clément France,” this jardinière is a fine example of the factory’s celebrated majolica production, known for its vibrant glazes and lifelike botanical motifs. It remains in very good antique condition, with minor imperfections to the glaze that only enhance its authenticity and charm.
A highly decorative and collectible piece, ideal for displaying plants or as a standalone object, bringing a touch of French artistry and warmth to any interior.
